Orlando Magic: Recap of the draft picks

The Orlando Magic had four picks at the 2017 NBA Draft, but they traded two of those picks to Philadelphia, which gave back a first- and second-round pick in 2020, and Memphis, which will given them a future second-round pick. That left them with the sixth and 33rd overall pick of the draft (the 33rd pick came from the Lakers in the Dwight Howard trade).

Here is an analysis for the two rookies on the Orlando roster.

Jonathan Isaac

Malik Monk may have had the largest profile of anybody outside the Top five picks, but he fell out of the top 10. Besides, the Magic were looking for a forward to fill in a gap that Serge Ibaka left after being traded to Toronto last year. It just so happened that Isaac was still on the board when the Magic went on the clock, and the rest is history.

There is plenty of talent all over the draft, but even Markelle Fultz is not necessarily ages better than others in the top 10, and Isaac …
