The Orlando Magic had lost five games in a row and 10 consecutive road games, but they stopped both of those streaks against the Philadelphia 76ers, making 53.9% of their shots en route to a 98-84 victory over the Sixers on Tuesday night at the Wells Fargo Center.
"It feels great," said Magic forward Moe Harkless. "Guys feel good about themselves and it shows what hard work can do. There are a lot of smiles around here for a change on the road."
Arron Afflalo and Tobias Harris had 16 points each for the Magic (16-41), with Afflalo adding seven assists and six rebounds and Harris also notching seven rebounds, while Andrew Nicholson tallied 13 points, Nikola Vucevic scored 12 points and pulled down 19 rebounds, E'Twaun Moore finished with 12 points and 10 assists and Harkless registered 10 points. Al Harrington made his Orlando debut, scoring nine points to go with three rebounds and two assists in 12 minutes of play.
Philadelphia (22-33) received 14 points apiece from Jeremy Pargo and Damien Wilkins, with Dorell Wright recording 11 points and seven rebounds, Evan Turner totaling 10 points and eight boards and Jrue Holiday finishing with nine points and 10 assists.
The Magic shot 53.9% from the floor after hitting 41 of 76 attempts, while the Sixers finished just 32 of 81 (39.5%). Orlando was 5 of 13 (38.%) from 3-point range compared to 7 of 21 (33.3%) for Philadelphia. The visitors won the rebounding battle 45-37, held a 40-26 edge on points in the paint and dished out 33 assists compared to 26 for the Sixers.
After losing the first quarter 20-18, Orlando outscored Philadelphia 29-22, 21-19 and 30-23 in the final three frames.
"We worked so hard for this and we hoped it would come," Harkless added. "It started with our energy and carried on through the team. We played with great intensity on defense and we made shots. It's just a great win and I'm happy for our whole team."
Orlando hosts Sacramento on Wednesday at 7:00 pm on FS Florida.
