The Miami Heat continue to be the beasts of the East, with the best record in the conference as well as the best mark in the Southeast Division. The Heat have won six consecutive games behind leading Most Valuable Player candidate LeBron James to build a seven-game lead over the second-place Atlanta Hawks, who are 29-22 compared to Miami's 35-14 record.
The third-place Washington Wizards have surpassed the Orlando Magic by winning four of their last five contests, bringing their record to 15-36, which is 1/2 game ahead of the 15-37 Magic. Orlando has dropped 24 of its last 27 games to fall into the fourth spot, but still holds a three-game advantage over the fifth-place Charlotte Bobcats, who are 12-40.
Miami is at Oklahoma City on Thursday, while Atlanta welcomes the Heat to town on Wednesday. Washington hosts Toronto on Tuesday, while Orlando hosts Charlotte.
