The Orlando Magic certainly had an up and down 2012. They experienced the loss of perennial All-Star center Dwight Howard when he demanded a trade and was ultimately moved to the Los Angeles Lakers as part of a four-team deal that saw the Magic bring in guard Arron Afflalo, who is now their leading scorer. In addition, they replaced former head coach Stan Van Gundy with first-year man Jacque Vaughn.

On the court, Orlando started off great, notching over 100 points twice en route to a 2-0 record. From there, they lost a few games and then won a few games, lost a few games and then won a few games. Throughout the first two months of the season, the Magic have been the mark of inconsistency, with inexperienced players and injuries making it difficult to build significant momentum.

It is unknown what lies ahead in 2013, but I can promise you that I'll be here to bring you game previews and recaps as well as injury updates and all kinds of other informational content. Not only that, but there are several new features in the works, including one that I am now pleased to unveil …

The "Orlando Magic Blast from the Past!"

That's right. Beginning with the third Wednesday of this month, January 16th to be exact, I will start a new bi-weekly (that's every two weeks) series that will see me look at a former Magic player or coach. I will detail their careers and also try to find out what they're up to now.

I already have somebody in mind for the first "Orlando Magic Blast from the Past," but you're just going to have to wait to find out who I've chosen.

I know there have been a few more Quick Hits than I would've liked as of late, but hopefully stuff like this will make up for it. I can't wait to watch this website grow and flourish in the coming year.

Happy New Year, Magic 101!
