"Making shots helps, but it's not everything," Magic guard Arron Afflalo said. "On the road I think we played more focused, spirited basketball. I guess it's something … The way we start the game has to be with more energy. One of us, next game, will take it upon ourselves to make sure that it happens."

Josh Smith and Jeff Teague scored 16 points apiece for the Hawks (13-6), with Smith adding 11 rebounds and five blocks. Al Horford had 13 points and 13 boards, while Louis Williams recorded 11 points and Devin Harris notched 10.

Orlando (8-13) got 16 points from Afflalo and 13 from J.J. Redick. Jameer Nelson (12 points), E'Twaun Moore (11 points), and Glen Davis (10 points, seven rebounds, and a game-high four steals) were also in double figures for the Magic.

The Magic were outshot 43.8% (35 of 80) to 38.3% (31 of 81) from the field, but knocked down 7 of 22 (31.8%) shots from 3-point range compared to 6 of 22 (27.3%) for Atlanta. Orlando was a perfect 11 of 11 (100%) from the free throw line, while the visitors finished 10 of 16 (62.5%) from the charity stripe. The hosts committed 16 turnovers that led to 24 points, while they scored 20 points off 14 turnovers by the Hawks.

The Hawks won the first two quarters 20-15 and 26-19 before tying Orlando 26-26 in the third period. The fourth frame saw the Magic outscore Atlanta 20-14.

"In the games that we won (on the road trip) we took care of the basketball," Magic coach Jacque Vaughn said. "There was a stretch tonight where it was a four-point game and then we had three turnovers in a row, and the next thing you know it was a 12-point game."

Orlando hosts Golden State on Friday at 7:00 pm on FS Florida.
