The opening month of the season saw the Orlando Magic post a 5-10 record, with double-digit wins over the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns to begin the campaign before a five-game losing streak that included losses to the Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, Brooklyn Nets (twice), and New York Knicks. Sandwiched between victories over the Detroit Pistons were defeats at the hands of the Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks. Following the second win over the Pistons, Orlando beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, but ended the month on the losing end of games against the Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, and Brooklyn Nets.

Davis also led Orlando in rebounding at 8.1 rebounds per game, with Vucevic nipping at his heels at 7.9 RPG.
