The opening month of the season saw the Orlando Magic post a 5-10 record, with double-digit wins over the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns to begin the campaign before a five-game losing streak that included losses to the Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, Brooklyn Nets (twice), and New York Knicks. Sandwiched between victories over the Detroit Pistons were defeats at the hands of the Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks. Following the second win over the Pistons, Orlando beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, but ended the month on the losing end of games against the Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, and Brooklyn Nets.
Glen Davis paced the Magic at 14.8 points per game, while Arron Afflalo averaged 14.7 PPG. J.J. Redick finished the month at 13.4 PPG, Jameer Nelson tallied 13.0 PPG, and E’Twaun Moore scored 11.0 PPG.
Davis also led Orlando in rebounding at 8.1 rebounds per game, with Vucevic nipping at his heels at 7.9 RPG.
At 5.6 assists per game, Jameer Nelson was the top passer for the Magic. Redick averaged 4.9 APG and Moore totaled 3.5 APG.
Davis, Afflalo, Moore, Vucevic, Andrew Nicholson, and Josh McRoberts played in every game, with Afflalo logging the most playing time at 34.1 minutes per game. Nelson (32.1 MPG), Davis (31.6 MPG), Redick (30.0 MPG), Moore (28.5 MPG), and Vucevic (28.1 MPG) all recorded at least 25 MPG as well.
Vucevic led the Magic in blocks at 1.1 swats per game, while Hedo Turkoglu totaled 2.0 steals per game and Nelson finished with 1.5 SPG, despite the fact that they combined to appear in just nine games.
