After two straight losses to the Brooklyn Nets, the Orlando Magic will try their hand at another New York team when they welcome the New York Knicks to the Amway Center on Tuesday.
The Knicks (4-0) are the only undefeated team in the NBA, led by Carmelo Anthony’s 27.3 points per game. Sixth man J.R. Smith is averaging a career-high 17.5 PPG, while Raymond Felton (12.3 PPG) and Ronnie Brewer (10.5 PPG) are also scoring in double figures. Tyson Chandler (9.3 PPG), Jason Kidd (8.3 PPG), and Steve Novak (7.0 PPG) are all making solid contributions as well. As a team, New York is averaging 104.5 PPG.
Over its last four games, Orlando (2-4) has scored more than 75 points just once, tallying 93 in a six-point loss to the Chicago Bulls in their third game of the season. This comes on the heels of a 102-89 Opening Night win over the Denver Nuggets and a 115-94 victory over the Phoenix Suns two days later.
The Magic have five players averaging double digits in points: Arron Afflalo (16.7 PPG), Glen Davis (16.3 PPG), J.J. Redick (14.2 PPG), E’Twaun Moore (13.5 PPG), and Nikola Vucevic (11.0 PPG).
Orlando may or may not have starting point guard Jameer Nelson back. Nelson has missed the last five games with a strained hamstring, sore groin, and twisted ankle.
Tuesday’s game will begin at 7:00 pm on FS Florida.
