After an eventful offseason and a 2-6 record in the preseason, the Orlando Magic will get the 2012-13 season underway on Friday when they welcome the Denver Nuggets to the Amway Center.
The Nuggets (0-1) are coming off an 84-75 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on the road on Wednesday and will be looking to right the ship against an Orlando team that is just beginning a rebuilding phase.
Ty Lawson led the Nuggets in scoring in their first game, tallying 16 points. Andre Igoudala (11) and Andre Miller (10) also reached double figures.
Afflalo and the Magic will be led by first-year head coach Jacque Vaughn, who was previously an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs. When asked about Vaughn, Afflalo responded:
“Jacque is going to be so good for us as a team. He’s going to be easy to play for, but at the same time you can tell that he is going to command discipline. I’m enjoying playing for him and I think Jacque has had a good coaching experience so far. But (players and coaches) are going to have to make it easy on each other by handling our individual responsibilities.”
Orlando will look to get their new head man off to a winning start on Friday. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm on FS Florida.
