MAGIC 101

The New Jersey Nets' management blatantly went out of their way to court Dwight Howard to try and convince him that the Nets is where he needs to be next season. They had fireworks, ticket promotions using Dwight Howard's number 12, and even a celebrity owner in attendance (Jay-Z). But the one thing that they forgot to bring to the table was their basketball team. The Nets were outclassed tonight in every way. The Magic stomped the Nets from the moment the ball was tipped off until the end of the game. The Magic ultimately won the game by the score of 108 to 91. The Magic were led by Dwight Howard, JJ Redick, and Big Baby Davis. The Nets were led by Marshon Brooks and Deron Williams. There is no rest for the weary in this year's NBA as the Magic will once again tip off tomorrow night on the road against their bitter rival Atlanta Hawks. The Magic were ousted by the Hawks last year in the playoffs, and they also lost a terrible overtime game to them a few weeks ago. They will look to settle the score tomorrow night and head into the All-Star break on a winning note. Now onto tonight's awards:

Big Ups:

Dwight Howard- Howard had a lot of pressure on himself tonight as the entire arena was chanting for him to come play for the Nets. Howard did not disappoint. He put up another monster performance. He had 20 points, 17 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. With the awfulness that the Nets have shown against Orlando this year, it really makes you wonder what Howard sees in the Nets that he doesn't see in the Magic. Hey Dwight, the grass isn't always greener.

Asi Asi:

Hedo Turkoglu- Turkoglu gets another mixed performance. He was pretty much non-existent all night. I will give Turk the pass though for two reasons: 1) He was reportedly sick before this game and almost didn't play 2) The Magic crushed the Nets so who really cares.

Chris Duhon Award:

Shelden Williams- Not sure how this guy is still in the NBA, let alone a rotational player for a team in the NBA. He must have gotten more minutes tonight than he normally does because Kris Humphries is out, but still they should be able to find a better player than Williams almost anywhere in the world. Williams only claim to fame is that he is married to a good WNBA player. She could probably beat him in a game.
